KARACHI: Karachi residents can expect a refreshing change in the weather as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts thundershowers to grace the cityscape for the next two days, offering respite from the recent dry spell.

The PMD anticipates heavy showers to drench Karachi on February 3 and 4, providing much-needed relief from the dry conditions that have persisted in the region. With the lowest temperature recorded at a comfortable 19°C and the highest expected to reach 29°C, Karachiites can anticipate a cooler atmosphere accompanied by a pleasant breeze.

Various parts of the city received a prelude to the upcoming rainfall with light to moderate showers on Friday morning. Areas including North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Lyari, Baldia Town, and Gulistan-e-Johar experienced the refreshing touch of raindrops, bringing joy to residents and revitalizing the cityscape.

The PMD’s forecast extends beyond Karachi, with predictions of rain with isolated heavyfalls in multiple areas of Balochistan, offering hope for agricultural communities and potential relief for the region’s water resources. Additionally, light to moderate rain is expected in several cities across Sindh, including Sukkur, Larkana, and Dadu, contributing to the overall replenishment of water reservoirs.

While heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding in certain areas, the PMD assures residents that measures are in place to mitigate potential risks and ensure public safety. Moreover, the rain is anticipated to be beneficial for standing crops, particularly in the “Barani areas” of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, providing a boon for agricultural communities and contributing to food security in the region.
