Kashmir’s progress linked to tax system, says DG ISPR

RAWALPINDI: DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that the political system in Azad Kashmir is working, if the state does not collect taxes, it cannot provide incentives or pay salaries.

According to reports, DG ISPR spoke to about 1,000 students and teachers of various universities in the Palandri area of ​​Azad Kashmir and answered their questions.

In response to a question about the violent protests and disruptive politics by the Public Action Committee, he said that the political system of Azad Kashmir is functional and key indicators including education, health and infrastructure are improving.

He stressed that without taxes, the state cannot provide incentives or salaries, noting that more than 30 percent of the population of Azad Kashmir consists of government employees. He added that protest is everyone’s right but chaos damages the economy.

Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry highlighted that Allah Almighty has blessed Kashmir with immense resources, recalling that the dream of Pakistan’s establishment was linked to Kashmir and that many officers and soldiers in the army are Kashmiris.

He reiterated that the future of Kashmir lies in the slogan: “Kashmir will become Pakistan”.
