PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has written a formal letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, requesting intervention to facilitate his meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

The letter, a copy of which is available with Daily Ausaf, stated that despite multiple requests to the Federal Interior Ministry and the Punjab Home Department, no meeting has been arranged so far.

The Chief Minister stated that both departments were previously approached in writing to seek permission for the meeting, but no response was received.

In his letter, Afridi maintained that as the elected Chief Executive of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, representing over 45 million citizens, he bears a constitutional and moral duty to consult with his party’s Patron-in-Chief on important matters of governance and provincial cabinet formation.

The letter further stated that the KP government had earlier dispatched an official request to the concerned authorities, but despite repeated follow-ups, no confirmation was provided.

Afridi urged the Supreme Court to direct the Adiala Jail authorities, along with the Interior Ministry and the Punjab Home Department, to arrange the meeting at the earliest.

He underscored that the inability to consult with the PTI founder was hampering policy decisions and delaying critical administrative matters in the province.
