KP govt announces head money on 14 terrorists in Kurram

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Wednesday announced Rs130 million head money for 14 terrorists in Kurram district.
In pursuance of powers granted under SOPs and in light of the recommendations the head money has been fixed against names of the 14 most wanted/proclaimed offenders with immediate effect,” stated a notification of the Home Department

According to the Home Department notification, “The head money has been fixed against the names of the 14 most wanted/proclaimed offenders with immediate effect.”

The head money for terrorist Kazim alias Ahmad Mustafa of Baggan has been fixed at Rs30 million, while Rs20m head money has been fixed for Amjadullahh of Sadda, Lower Kurram.

Others who carry head money included Mukaram Khan with Rs15m, Darwesh Wazir with Rs10m, Saif Ullah with Rs10m, Usman Shafique with Rs10m, Noorullah with Rs10m, Usman Gul Badin with Rs8m and Maulana Tayab with Rs5m.

Besides, Rs3 million each head money was fixed for Mansoor, Pastawani, Usama of Shaga, Adam Saaz Parakay of Kurram, Yaseen Shaheen, and Wazir Mahmood.

The information providers’ names will be kept confidential, the notification read. The terrorists belong to the Bagan, Watezai, and Haroon Mela areas of Kurram district.

Meanwhile, the district administration has issued evacuation notices for residents of four villages in Lower Kurram due to escalating security concerns in the region.

Residents of Ochit, Manduri, Dad Kumar, and Bagan were instructed to evacuate for protection of their lives and property.

In a related effort, six families from Lower Kurram were relocated to Hangu on Tuesday, temporarily staying with relatives as tensions rise. Officials indicated that once the villages are vacated, search operations will commence in the area to enhance security.

This decision comes as part of the government’s strengthened efforts to fight the troubling increase of violence in the region, with multiple attacks carried out on law enforcement agencies’ vehicles and convoys.
