PESHAWAR: Clashes broke out during the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly session, resulting in heated exchanges between members and liberal use of kicks and punches, here on Tuesday.
According to the reports, the opposition members requested the Speaker for time to speak. When they were not given a chance, the situation escalated into a verbal confrontation, which eventually culminated in a physical altercation.
During the riots, the MLAs used kicks and punches freely.
Meanwhile, Naik Muhammad of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Iqbal Wazir, a member of PTI parliamentarians, got into a scuffle. Both belong to North Waziristan.
To restore peace, the Speaker adjourned the meeting for 15 minutes and called the security personnel.
The provincial ministers contacted the opposition benches to pacify the members, after which the situation returned to normal and the two members of the assembly involved in the fight were expelled from the assembly.
