RAWALAKOT: The election convoy of Stability Pakistan Party Azad Kashmir President and former Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan was stopped at Bandi area of Tien, Dhalkot, before entering Poonch district, after which he left for Islamabad along with his associates.

According to Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ staff, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan left Islamabad on Friday morning for a two-day election tour along with a large convoy via Tien, Dhalkot, Constituency LA-22, Poonch-5 (Pachyot).

According to former Special Assistant Sardar Imtiaz Shaheen, the convoy was supposed to leave for the constituency after a brief stay at Ayaz Mughal’s residence in Tamrota and meeting local people.

Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ staff said that after crossing the third bridge, the convoy was stopped at Bandi. During this, tension arose in the area, and stones were pelted by the angry people, as a result of which the windows of several vehicles in the convoy were broken.

According to Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ staff, a firing incident also took place during the tense situation, in which three of Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ security guards were injured, one of whom is in critical condition.

The injured were shifted to Kotli Satyan Hospital for first aid, where, according to administration sources, one of the guards was referred to Rawalpindi for further treatment when his condition was critical.

After the incident, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ convoy returned to Islamabad instead of moving forward. On the other hand, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas’ spokesperson confirmed the incident and told ABN News that miscreants also took possession of a vehicle in the convoy, in which four people were travelling. However, further details about these individuals could not be immediately revealed.

The district administration, highways department and law enforcement agencies have not yet issued any official statement on the incident, alleged firing, injuries and claims of vehicle seizure.

According to sources, the Tyne-Dhalkot highway has been closed for the past several days, due to which public transport on this road has also been suspended.

Due to these circumstances, the election convoy of former Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas could not proceed beyond the Bandi location and left for Islamabad.
