PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a new procedure by removing the bank account requirement for receiving Rs 12,500 under the Ramadan package.

According to the details, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially removed the mandatory bank account requirement imposed on the beneficiaries of the Ramadan Package 2026. A formal notification has also been issued by the provincial authorities in this regard.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had announced a financial assistance of Rs 12,500 for needy families, but along with this, it had also made it a condition that all beneficiaries must have a bank account.

This decision was met with strong reactions from across the province, with citizens and local representatives calling it an unrealistic condition.

Access to banking facilities was impossibly difficult for poor families living in remote and backward areas, while the majority living in villages neither have bank accounts nor are they familiar with the complex banking procedures.
New and simplified procedure

The government has made the following changes in the registration process, under which beneficiaries will now be registered on the basis of their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and mobile phone number instead of bank account. This decision will also benefit thousands of families in the province who were at risk of being deprived of assistance due to lack of bank account.

Officials claim that this new procedure will increase transparency, reach more people and help in providing financial assistance in a timely manner.
