ISLAMABAD: Due to heavy rain in Islamabad, the movement of passenger vehicles on the Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway has been temporarily suspended, while authorities have advised citizens to exercise caution.

According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, this measure has been taken to ensure the safety of passengers.

‘… because as a result of continuous rain, the road has become slippery and visibility is also being affected, which may increase the risk of accidents.’

The Motorway Police has informed on social media platforms that the M-2 in Lahore has also been closed from Thokar Niaz Baig to Kot Momin due to heavy rain.

Authorities have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and wait until the weather conditions improve.

The Motorway Police say that traffic will be restored as soon as the situation returns to normal, while the relevant staff is continuously monitoring the situation.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert in view of the threat of rain, snowfall and possible flooding in different parts of the country.

On the other hand, according to a spokesperson for Islamabad Police, intermittent rains are continuing in the federal capital, due to which water has accumulated on many highways and the flow of traffic is being affected.

Traffic police officers are taking steps to maintain the flow of traffic while being present on the roads.
