Major relief of Rs 46.56 billion to electricity consumers

ISLAMABAD:  The spokesperson of the Power Division has said that the government is determined to provide maximum relief to the people, the government has provided a huge relief of Rs 46 billion 56 crore to electricity consumers.

The spokesperson of the Power Division said that the electricity tariff has been reduced by a total of 71 paisa per unit, in the last two years, the industrial tariff has been reduced by Rs 14.44 per unit, the tariff of the industrial sector has come down from Rs 49.19 to Rs 34.75 per unit.

The spokesperson said that in January and February, consumers received a net relief of Rs 26 billion 85 crore, under the quarterly adjustment, consumers were given a relief of Rs 48 billion, there was an increase of Rs 21.18 billion in the monthly fuel price adjustment, however, the overall relief remained.

He said that from July to February, consumers have been given relief of Rs 33.29 billion, 13.28 billion from monthly fuel price adjustment, while Rs 33.29 billion has been given relief from quarterly adjustments.

The Power Division spokesperson said that the government has borne the pressure of rising fuel prices globally, government measures are underway to stabilize electricity prices, and providing relief to electricity consumers is the government’s top priority.
