LAHORE: The Sharif family and senior Punjab minister Marriyum Aurangzeb have warned of strict legal action against individuals and platforms accused of spreading “fake news” regarding Junaid Safdar using the official plane of the Punjab government.

The Sharif family has firmly rejected rumours spreading on social media that claim that Junaid Safdar used a government or VIP aircraft to fly to Vienna.

The family’s spokesperson confirmed that all reports circulating online about their family are completely untrue. The rumours claimed that a special aircraft had flown to Vienna and suggested it was used for Junaid Safdar’s personal trip or honeymoon. The spokesperson confirmed that these claims are completely false.

The statement confirmed that Junaid Safdar currently resides in Pakistan within the Raiwind area. The family dismissed allegations that he travelled to Europe or used any government aircraft for a private visit.

The spokesperson confirmed that the existing rumours serve as a politically motivated campaign designed to spread false information. The family also warned that it reserves the right to pursue legal action against those responsible for circulating such false claims.

The statement from senior Punjab minister Marriyum Aurangzeb explains that Punjab government officials are using the Defamation Law 2024to sue all people who participated in the campaign.

The Punjab government has chosen to bring a legal case against these false allegations, according to Marriyum Aurangzeb’s announcement.

The senior Punjab minister announced that the Punjab government will launch legal action to achieve the highest possible penalties according to legal regulations.
