ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Deputy Information Secretary Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai revealed that Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has called for the release of imprisoned PTI leader Imran Khan.

This development came after a meeting between PTI leader Asad Qaiser and Maulana Fazlur Rehman in the federal capital.

The two parties discussed potential joint actions against the government, including reactivating parliamentary committees and launching a joint movement.

During a joint press conference, JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri and Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai criticized the current government, stating it lacks public support and legitimacy.

Ghauri condemned the government’s violation of prior commitments, citing parliament’s legislation on Monday. Yousafzai emphasized the need for Imran Khan’s cases to be heard and decided on merit, expressing concern over his prolonged detention.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman is set to travel abroad, and upon his return, consultations will be held with other opposition parties to discuss the next steps.

The JUI-F suggested that PTI must demonstrate seriousness if it intends to collaborate effectively in the future. PTI has opted to consult with Imran Khan and the top cadre regarding future plans with JUI-F.
