KARACHI: Reports emerged on social media about the alleged leak of the MDCAT paper online hours before the scheduled time, prompting an outrage against the administration. However, the claim was rejected by Dow University of Health Sciences.

Users on X shared photos of alleged leaked MDCAT paper, raising concerns among medical aspirants and parents alike. Following the reports, netizens and parents were left in uncertainty and demanded clarification from concerned authorities.

User, Engr Anees, shared a picture of the question paper, claiming that “again MDCAT paper is leaked before the test”. “Hard work & sleepless nights students put into the bin by incompetence & corruption of Dow University,” he wrote on X.

Fact Check

However, the claim was rejected by the Dow University of Health Sciences which is overseeing the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) in Sindh. Dow Univesity declared a leaked paper circulating on social media as fake.

A spokesperson for the university asserted that the possibility of a paper leak is non-existent and urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified rumors.

Media reports also claimed that MDCAT answer copies were sold out in Larkana for twelve lakh rupees per student. The scandal came to light a few hours before the scheduled exam.

However, concerned authorities have not issued any statement on the matter.

Over 167,777 candidates are vying for more than 18,000 seats across Pakistan in medical and dental colleges. Mobile and internet services have been suspended within a 500-meter radius of the examination centers during the exam duration to ensure the smooth conduct of the test.

In Sindh, six examination centers have been set up across the province for 38,700 candidates, including 12,846 in Karachi alone under the supervision of Dow University of Health Sciences.
