ISLAMABAD: Metro bus service has been suspended once again due to ongoing repair work in Rawalpindi, causing travel difficulties for thousands of commuters.
The affected stretch stretches from Saddar Station to Faizabad, which has been completely closed for maintenance. However, the Islamabad Metro Bus service, which runs between IJP Station and Pak Secretariat, has been restored, providing partial relief to commuters travelling within the capital.
According to the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), the repair project is estimated to cost Rs620 million and is aimed at repairing the damage done to the Metro bus service track.
Officials have said that maintenance work is crucial to ensure the safety and longevity of the metro infrastructure. However, the repeated closures have drawn criticism from daily commuters, who heavily rely on the Metro bus service for affordable and efficient transport.
Authorities have yet to announce a completion date for the repairs, leaving commuters uncertain about when normal operations will resume. Meanwhile, the RDA has appealed to the public to make alternative travel arrangements during the suspension period.
