ISLAMABAD: The metro bus services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been temporarily suspended on several routes due to the ongoing construction of several key underpasses in the federal capital and a possible protest of lawyers.
Several key roads have also been closed, making traffic chaos in the area and traveling difficult for commuters.
According to officials, buses from Rawalpindi to Islamabad operated only up to Faiz Ahmed Faiz Station. The route from the Kashmir Highway to the Pak Secretariat remained suspended on the directives of the district administration.
Heavy police deployment near Faizabad has resulted in significant traffic congestion on the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway, causing inconvenience to commuters.
The situation has been further exacerbated by the sealing of all entry and exit points of the Red Zone due to security concerns. As per a police advisory, entry and exit routes at various locations, including Serena, Nadra, Marriott, Express Chowk, and Tea Cross Bari Imam, were closed from 6 AM until further notice.
To mitigate the disruption, authorities have advised citizens to use Margalla Road as an alternative route, and Islamabad Traffic Police has assured commuters of assistance, urging them to seek updates via the helpline (1915) or social media.
