Missing tourist family identified after being swept away by flood at Babusar Top

DIAMER: A missing tourist family that was swept away by flash floods at Babusar Top has been identified on Sunday, the local sources say. Rescue teams and residents recovered a vehicle and personal items from the flooded area.

Identification cards left behind at the site revealed the persons missing to be Shabana Liaquat, an anchorperson of a private television channel, her husband Liaquat, and their four kids.

The Deputy Commissioner of Diamer said the missing family is from Nowshera, and efforts are being made to find them.

A minimum of 15 individuals were washed away by flash floods on July 22, 2025, at Babusar road, and seven bodies have been recovered so far. Seven more people are missing, added DC Diamer.

The administration of the district has sent sniffer dogs and drones in the ongoing search and rescue efforts in the region.
