ISLAMABAD: Motorway Police has introduced a new law under which passengers sitting in the car will also be challaned.

The Motorway Police has introduced a new law under which it has become mandatory for every passenger sitting in the car to fasten their seat belts.

According to the Motorway Police, this measure aims to ensure safe travel on the roads and reduce casualties during accidents.

Under the new directive, it will be mandatory for all passengers traveling on the motorway to fasten their seat belts as soon as they sit on their seats.

According to the Motorway Police, the main reason for the loss of lives of passengers in most accidents is not using seat belts. Therefore, the law will be strictly implemented, and violators will have to face fines.

The authorities have appealed to the public to make the use of seat belts their habit and ensure safe travel by abiding by traffic rules.

Earlier, the National Highways and Motorways Police (NHMP) made it necessary for passengers in public transport to wear seatbelts while travelling on Motorways.

The motorway authorities have confirmed the decision, failing to which will lead to heavy fines.

All public transport vehicles are directed to be equipped with seatbelts for each passenger, and no transport will be allowed to travel on the motorway that fails to do so.

The NHMP stated that the step aims to reduce the risk of injuries and fatalities in case of accidents and to bring local travel standards in line with international safety protocols.
