LAHORE: As the nation struggles under scorching heat, the Motorway Police has come out with a safety alert for drivers to prevent heat-related accidents.

Motorway Police spokesman directed all drivers to ensure radiator water levels while driving. According to him, engine temperature and tyre pressure also need to be checked, especially during the hottest part of the day.

Drivers were strictly advised against leaving lighters, mobile phones, or perfumes within cars during intense heat, as they may lead to accidents or even fire.

People have been advised not to venture out unnecessarily from 11 am to 4 pm. Avoid leaving children or the elderly alone in a car for a brief period,” the spokesperson emphasized.

He also suggested having additional water and a first aid kit in the car at all times. Always park your car in the shade to prevent overheating,” he further said.

The tip is being issued as temperatures have shot up in most cities well over 45 degrees Celsius, while health professionals have also warned of the possibility of heatstroke cases across the nation.
