ISLAMABAD: Motorway police officials announced on Wednesday that the M-1 Motorway has been temporarily closed from Peshawar to Swabi Interchange due to dense fog and dangerously low visibility.
Officials stressed that the closure is aimed at preventing accidents and protecting lives and property of motorists. Commuters travelling inter-city are requested to avoid unnecessary travel during foggy weather.
Commuters are also advised to complete their journeys during daylight hours and reach their destinations before the fog sets in.
NHMP officials stressed the importance of using fog lights, maintaining extra distance from the vehicle in front and driving at a safe speed. Before embarking on any journey, commuters are encouraged to call the Motorway Police helpline 130 for real-time updates.
The move comes as the Met Office warns that foggy conditions could persist, increasing the risk of accidents and traffic congestion on the motorway.
