Municipal workersdemands salaries, pension
PESHAWAR: The United Municipal Workers Union Peshawar has strongly criticized policies of provincial government that increased problems of local government employees, depriving them of salaries and pensions ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
The president of union, Ismail Khan said the refusal of provincial Finance Department to release grant funds to the Capital Metropolitan Government Peshawar was a clear exploitation of employees that are already facing different financial issues.
Union office bearers said that after facing similar issues in the past, poor employees and pensioners of the local government Peshawar and most TMAs across the province have once again been left without salaries before Eid-ul-Azha.
Union representatives alleged that the Finance Department distributed fourth-quarter grants on the basis of favoritism and failed to allocate any funds to the Capital Metropolitan Government Peshawar, resulting in severe financial difficulties for employees and pensioners.
They demanded that the provincial government and finance department review their policies to ensure a
permanent solution for the timely payment of salaries to local government employees.
