MURREE: In a recent development, the city traffic police of Murree have taken up a multi-pronged plan to prevent traffic congestion during the expected influx of tourists during the snowfall.

Chief Traffic Officer, Murree, Mughees Ahmad Hashmi stated that around 200 traffic wardens would be posted to manage the expected increase in vehicles and to keep traffic flowing smoothly as tourists pour into Murree and adjoining areas.

The directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Inspector General of Police, and the Additional Inspector General of Traffic Police will be strictly followed with an emphasis on providing a safe and efficient experience to the visitors.

Toward this direction, one-way traffic systems will work on View Fourth Road, Bank Road, Hall Road, Kuldana Road, and Imtiaz Shaheed Road during the snowfall.

This would ease congestion and ensure better transport of tourists. Besides, the areas surrounding HBL, GPO Chowk, Cecil Hotel, Kuldana Road, and Bank Road towards Girls Degree College will be no-parking zones. This would not only ease congestion but ensure safety for tourists.

To minimize interference, some heavy vehicles, such as food supply trucks and water tankers, will only be permitted access between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. This would allow traffic to avoid congestion so that foreigners and locals could travel safely.

The City Traffic Police has put in place several other measures, such as the deployment of more policemen and the establishment of facilitation centers at different locations, to ensure visitors enjoy a safe and smooth trip.
