KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday nullified the anti-terrorism court (ATC) decision in the Mustafa Amir murder case and directed the police to produce Armughan, the prime suspect, before an ATC judge.
The development came after the court approved all four pleas requesting Armughan’s physical remand for alleged possession of illegal weapons, kidnapping, murder, and other offences.
Earlier, ATC No. 1 denied the physical remand of the prime suspect in the Mustafa murder case, but the police will present the suspect in ATC 2 shortly.
The case relates to the kidnapping and murder of a BBA student, Mustafa, who had gone missing on January 6. The police found the charred body of Mustafa inside a burned car in Hub, Balochistan.
Armaghan’s father, Kamran Qureshi, alleged that police denied his request to file an FIR for dacoity and also did not allow him to meet his son.
He further claimed that despite Armaghan being intoxicated at the time of his arrest, no medical examination was conducted.
According to DIG Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Muqaddas Haider, investigations revealed that the suspect, Armughan, murdered Mustafa Amir and later moved his body to Hub and destroyed it by burning the car in an attempt to destroy evidence.
The police have recovered bloodstained carpets from Armughan’s residence, which matched the DNA samples collected from the victim’s body. Mustafa Amir was reported missing on January 6, with a kidnapping case registered.
The police arrested the prime suspect Armughan Sahib from the Defence area of Karachi who was also involved in cryptocurrency and some illegal activities.
