ISLAMABAD: Travelling to Pakistan just got a whole lot easier, thanks to the launch of the “PAK ID” mobile app, which facilitates visa-on-arrival for citizens of 120 countries.
The app developed by the National Data and Registration Authority (NADRA) lets users apply for visas check the status of their applications and also get a visa online. The entire process will now be hassle-free.
According to the app, travelers can apply for business and tourist visas, track the progress of their applications, and it can read their facial expressions, passports, and documents.
The online visa system in Pakistan is open to 192 countries, but only 120 countries are eligible to come on a visa-on-arrival basis.
The introduction of the “Pak ID” mobile app in July 2024 has suggested all good things, as it allows people to get their CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) and FRC (Family Registration Certificate) online.
The citizens have been relieved of standing in long queues at centers; upon successful completion of the process, the documents should be delivered right to their doorstep. The app has ensured easy photo upload, finger identification, and online payment.
According to the NADRA spokesperson, CNICs, FRCs, and even CNICs for overseas Pakistanis can now be issued online, offering added convenience to everyone.
Now, to apply for a visa-on-arrival to Pakistan: A new user account can be created at the Pakistan Online Visa System; enter into the system, fill the application form, pay the corresponding fees, and submit the completed application.
The processing time for a visa-on-arrival, as per the latest updates, is 48-72 hours, and ballot for a long period of 30 days. The availability of the “Pak ID” app has opened up great opportunities for travelers to get around Pakistan for tourism and business expeditions.
