ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced the facility of changing identity records from home for citizens, under which it is now possible to modify the National Identity Card and NICOP information without visiting the NADRA office.
NADRA is the only authorized body to provide National Identity Card, NICOP and other identity documents to Pakistanis living inside and outside Pakistan. For the convenience of citizens, NADRA has introduced the Pak ID Mobile App while promoting digital services, through which several services can be obtained from home.
According to NADRA officials, if a citizen wants to make any changes to his/her NICOP or NICOP records, he/she can now submit the application only through the Pak ID Mobile App without visiting the NADRA office. Through this facility, the records can be updated within a short time at a low fee.
The identity record is modified in two categories, which include printable and non-printable information. PakID Mobile App has an option of “Update Card” for editing printable information while “Update Info” is given for editing non-printable information.
Printable information is that which is clearly mentioned on the CNIC, including name, father’s or husband’s name, date of birth and current or permanent residential address. In case of change in this information, a new CNIC is issued.
Whereas non-printable information is that which is stored in NADRA records but is not printed on the CNIC, such as birth details, family records, marital status, educational information and mother tongue, etc.
According to NADRA, it is worth noting that regarding the amendment of marital status, men can make all kinds of changes, however, the change from unmarried to married falls under the printable category because in this case the husband’s name is printed on the CNIC.
