DIG Traffic accelerates driving licensing process for women

LAHORE: On the orders of DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir, the process of providing driving licenses to women has accelerated significantly, as a result of which more than 248,000 women benefited from various licensing facilities during the year 2025.

According to traffic police data, 42 percent more women obtained driving licenses in the year 2025 compared to the previous year. Of these, more than 183,000 women obtained car driving licenses, which reflects the increasing autonomy and awareness of traffic rules among women.

According to the data, in the year 2025, 61,000 women obtained motorcycle, 1,833 women obtained LTV, 240 women obtained rickshaw, while 150 women obtained commercial heavy driving licenses.

DIG Traffic Muhammad Waqas Nazir says that women obtained 86 percent of motorcycle and 32 percent of car driving licenses, which is a welcome development.

During the same period, more than 10,000 women obtained duplicate driving licenses while more than 77,000 women also renewed their licenses.

He further said that in the year 2025, more than 2,000 women obtained commercial driving licenses, after which new employment opportunities have also been created for women.

According to the DIG Traffic, a pink van service has been introduced to provide facilities to women at their doorsteps, while Women Enclave Centers have been established in Asbar in Lahore and Gujranwala. Lakhs of women have benefited from these facilities through the online licensing system.
