ISLAMABAD: The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, declared new operating hours for commercial establishments in the capital city on Saturday.
The Deputy Commissioner announced new business hours through a public announcement, which included an official document on the social media platform X, which was previously known as Twitter.
The District Administration of Islamabad established new closing times for commercial and recreational operations because it needed to continue its financial austerity policies.
The new schedule begins on April 23, 2026, and remains in effect until they issue further announcements are issued. The new regulations require all shops, markets, and shopping malls to stop operations at 8:00 PM every day.
The regulations permit pharmacies, hospitals, petrol stations, CNG stations, and dairy shops to operate without restrictions. All food businesses, including restaurants, tandoors, and grocery stores, must close their doors at 10:00 PM.
The time restriction does not affect takeaway and delivery services because they operate independently. All marriage halls, marquees, event venues, sports facilities, clubs, and gyms must close their operations at 10:00 PM.
