RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi issued non-bailable arrest warrants for 25 people, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, in the General Headquarters (GHQ) attack case.
While issuing the warrants, Judge Amjad Ali Shah directed the Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) to arrest the accused and produce them in court on December 10.
Those issued with the warrants include Shibli Faraz, Shehryar Afridi, Zain Qureshi, Kanwal Shozab, Tahir Sadiq, and Taimoor Masood Malik. The court issued warrants in a case related to the violent protests on May 9, in which Amry’s GHQ in Rawalpindi was targeted.
On December 5, ATC indicted 100 people, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, in connection with the case. The indictment underscores the legal and political significance of the case, as authorities work to address the damage caused by the attacks and bring those responsible to justice.
Law enforcement agencies have been ordered to promptly execute the warrants and ensure that the suspects appear in court as required. This is another important step in the ongoing legal proceedings related to the events of May 9.
