RAWALPINDI: DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry says that our problem is with the Afghan Taliban regime, not with the people of Afghanistan.

Speaking informally to senior journalists on Tuesday, he said that terrorists will be pursued to the last breath.

DG ISPR said that Pakistan has not carried out any attack inside Afghanistan, and any such reports on social media are baseless and may be linked to their internal disturbances.

“If Pakistan conducts any operation inside Afghanistan, it would do so openly and will take its full responsibility, DG ISPR added.

He added that “Our policy is against terrorism, not against the Afghan people”.

DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that Afghanistan should take verifiable action against terrorist hideouts.

He made it clear that there will be no talks with the Afghan Taliban regime without verifiable talks against terrorists because cross-border support for terrorism is the biggest problem.

DG ISPR  said that there is a need to break the nexus of smuggling and political crime on the Pak-Afghan border, adding that social accounts from foreign countries are creating a narrative against the state.

He said that for a coordinated war against terrorism, we need to fix our own house. He noted that the people and forces of Pakistan are united against terrorists.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that 4,910 operations have been conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, and a total of 206 terrorists have been killed since November 4.

He said that we did not carry out any operation in Afghanistan last night, and Pakistan will go to any extent to protect its citizens and borders.

DG ISPR added that Pakistan will continue to fulfill its responsibilities for peace and stability in the region, and the fight against terrorism is the top priority of national security. Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said that all suicide bombers in Pakistan are Afghans.

ISPR head said that there should be no excessive speculation regarding the court martial of General (retd) Faiz Hameed.

He said that the court martial of Faiz Hameed is a legal and judicial process and as soon as any decision or implementation is made on this matter, we will inform the public about it.
