QUETTA: Earthquake tremors were felt in several districts of Balochistan, including Musakhel, Barkhan, Kohlu, Zhob and adjoining areas, causing damage to dozens of houses and injuring more than 20 people, officials said.
According to Deputy Commissioner Musakhel Abdul Raziq Khajak, more than 90 houses were damaged in the Rada Sham area’s Chap locality due to the earthquake. Several walls collapsed, leaving over 20 people injured, including women and children.
The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving medical treatment. Relief teams led by the Assistant Commissioner have been dispatched to the affected areas, while authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, fresh earthquake tremors were also felt in Kohlu. According to the Seismological Centre, the latest earthquake measured 4.3 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 15 kilometres. The epicentre was located about 40 kilometres north of Kohlu.
Initial reports indicated that no casualties or property losses were reported in Kohlu as a result of the latest tremor.
Officials said Kohlu had already experienced multiple earthquakes a day earlier. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, tremors were recorded at 10:25am, 10:58am and 4:49pm, with the strongest earthquake measuring 5.1 in magnitude.
Earthquake tremors were also reported in Zhob, Barkhan and nearby areas. District administrations remain on alert and are closely monitoring relief and rescue activities in the affected regions.
