ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has extended its previously established regulations, which govern international airlines, until further notice because of ongoing Jet A-1 fuel supply chain interruptions.
The authority requires airlines to implement all safety protocols because fuel supplies currently face unpredictable operational conditions.
The advisory emphasizes that international carriers should carry maximum fuel from departure airports abroad when operating flights to Pakistan. Airlines need to reduce their fuel purchases at Pakistani airports because this will help them run their operations better while they deal with supply shortages.
The Pakistan Airports Authority has made it clear that strict compliance with these directives will be enforced until April 30, 2026. Experts said countries in Asia are likely to be affected first, followed by Europe, as both regions depend heavily on oil supplies and refineries in the Gulf.
The experts reported that some flights have been canceled because of fuel shortages, which create risks of widespread aviation disruptions across the globe.
