ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission has summoned the Pakistan Army for the by-election in the vacant seat of PTI leader Omar Ayub in NA-18.

The Election Commission has written a letter to the Secretary of Defense, requesting the summoning of the Civil Armed Forces.

The ECP has also written a letter to the Secretary of the Interior for foolproof security in Haripur.

In a statement issued by the Election Commission, it was stated that Chief Minister KP Sohail Afridi threatened the district administration, police, and election staff in his remarks, and a notice has been taken for inciting the public present at the rally and the general public.

The Election Commission said that on this occasion, a fugitive criminal was also standing with the Chief Minister, whose wife is participating in the election. Due to the irresponsible behavior of the Chief Executive of the province, it has become difficult to hold a peaceful by-election in NA-18 Haripur.

The Election Commission said that the lives of the staff assigned to election duty and voters have also been threatened.

The commission directed the Provincial Election Commissioner, KPK, to immediately meet the Chief Secretary and IG. The Provincial Election Commissioner was also directed to submit a report after taking necessary security measures.
