ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has proposed the establishment of a Constitutional Court in the country for political and constitutional cases.
As per details, the bar council called for the formation of the proposed Court through a constitutional amendment that would exclusively hear political and constitutional cases, providing timely justice to the people.
In a statement, PBC says that the government should amend the constitution and establish a constitutional court. By establishing a constitutional court, the burden of political and constitutional cases on the Supreme Court will be removed.
The council has also expressed support for the appointment of ad hoc judges to help expedite the decision-making process in cases.
Currently, a significant amount of the Supreme Court’s time is spent hearing political cases, and the establishment of a constitutional court would help alleviate this burden.
