ISLAMABAD (Rizwan Abbasi): The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan has completely rejected all media reports regarding the Pakistani citizenship of 25-year-old Luqman Khan, a suspect in an alleged New York terror attack.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said that Luqman Khan is neither a Pakistani citizen nor of Pakistani origin.

According to the spokesperson, Luqman Khan was born in Afghanistan and spent some years in a refugee camp in Pakistan with his family as a child. He stayed in Pakistan for only a few years as a refugee, but does not hold Pakistani citizenship. Later, he moved to the United States where he spent most of his life.

Tahir Andrabi further clarified that Luqman Khan only holds Afghan and American citizenship, and Pakistan has no connection with this person. An attempt was made in the media to give a false impression that he is a Pakistani citizen, which is completely baseless and false.

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said that these efforts are actually part of a conspiracy to spread propaganda against Pakistan, which will not be allowed to succeed under any circumstances. Pakistan has once again demanded from the international community that the facts be taken into account in the war against terrorism and no country should be blamed unnecessarily.

The Foreign Office has also provided the relevant embassies and international organizations with complete details of Luqman Khan’s real nationality and background.
