Pakistan, India exchange lists of nuclear facilities and prisoners

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and India exchanged lists of nuclear installations and facilities at the beginning of the new year.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said during the weekly press briefing that at the beginning of the new year, Pakistan and India exchanged lists of prisoners.

The list of 257 Indian prisoners was exchanged in Pakistan, while the Indian Ministry of External Affairs provided India’s list to the representative of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi.

Tahir Hassan Andrani said that the list of nuclear installations between Pakistan and India was also exchanged on January 1. Both countries also handed over the list of nuclear installations to each other.

In this regard, diplomatic sources say that Pakistan and India signed the agreement on nuclear installations on December 31, 1988.

Under the agreement, both countries exchange lists of nuclear installations and facilities on January 1 every year.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said that Pakistan welcomes regional efforts to normalize the situation in Yemen and supports a peaceful resolution of the Yemeni conflict. Pakistan reiterates its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia.

He said that Pakistan completely rejects Israel’s move to recognize Somaliland as a separate country, and Pakistan supports Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
