Pakistan, Kazakhstan agree to expand cooperation across key sectors

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kazakhstan exchanged memorandums of understanding on cooperation in various fields on Wednesday.

The memorandums of understanding include mining and petroleum, maritime, customs, railways, transit trade, plant protection and veterinary, artificial intelligence, and digital development.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a joint declaration at the ceremony of signing memorandums of understanding and agreements on cooperation in various fields in Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

The two countries exchanged memorandums of understanding on cooperation in the fields of mining and petroleum, maritime, customs, railways, transit trade, plant protection and veterinary, artificial intelligence, and digital development.

In addition, a document on the agreement on the exchange of United Nations peacekeepers and prisoners was also exchanged.

Earlier, a reception was organized in honor of Kazakhstani President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the Prime Minister’s House.

Upon arrival at the Prime Minister’s House, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif warmly welcomed the distinguished guest, and the two leaders shook hands and exchanged pleasantries.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the national anthems of both countries were played, and a guard of honor was presented by a decorated contingent.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev introduced his delegation to Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

It may be recalled that the President of Kazakhstan arrived in Pakistan yesterday on a 2-day official visit along with a delegation.
