Pakistan, Russia desire to strengthen military ties

RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza on an official visit to Russia, held meetings with Russian military leadership.

Both, Pakistan and Russia have expressed a desire to strengthen bilateral military-to-military relationships, ISPR said in a statement.

CJCSC General Sahir Shamshad met with a Russian military delegation comprising,  Colonel General Alexander Fomin, Deputy Defence Minister, Aleksandr Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, and Colonel General S. Y. Istrakov, Deputy Chief of General Staff of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

During the meetings, the participants underscored the importance of working on enhancing cooperation in multiple domains including connectivity, trade, energy, and security, the statement added.

Both sides discussed areas of mutual interest including bilateral military and military-technical cooperation, regional security situation, and the menace of terrorism.
