ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has sought clarification from the United Kingdom’s British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) about the report it published related to events that took place at the PM Office, hours before the no-trust vote against Imran Khan on April 9.

The UK-managed BBC’s director-general has confirmed that they have received a written complaint from Pakistan seeking clarification on the report, according to a private TV Channel.

In response to the report earlier, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), in a statement, had rejected it and termed it “baseless and a pack of lies.”

“The report published by British broadcasting agency today is baseless and a pack of lies. The propaganda report has not cited any credible, verified or relevant source,” the ISPR had said.

The military’s media wing had added that the said report was a violation of basic journalism ethics and there was “no truth” to the fake news. “The report clearly seems a part of an organised disinformation campaign.”

In a recent press breifing, Director-General ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar had said that BBC published a “false story” and it was nothing but a pack of lies”.

“The army has nothing to do with the political process that took place a few days back in the country,” he had iterated. “Do not drag the army into political matters.”
