Pakistan strikes terror camps in Afghanistan

KABUL: In view of the increasing threats of cross-border terrorism, Pakistan carried out a major intelligence-based air operation in the eastern regions of Afghanistan and targeted seven key militant hideouts, as a result of which the terrorists’ infrastructure was completely destroyed.

According to sources, jets accurately targeted terrorist hideouts in Barmal district of Paktika province, where the sounds of loud explosions were heard far and wide. There are reports that the facilities used by the militants were severely damaged during the operation.

According to Afghan media reports, after Paktika, an air operation was also carried out in Khogyani district of Nangarhar, where terrorist hideouts and alleged training centers were targeted.

According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the warplanes targeted seven terrorist camps and hideouts of foreign terrorists, Fitna al-Khawarij and its affiliated groups, as a counter-terrorism measure in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border area with great precision and caution based on intelligence. And destroyed the hideouts of Fitna al-Khawarij.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said in a statement on its social media website that Pakistan expects and demands the interim Afghan government to fulfill its responsibilities and prevent its territory from being used by foreigners and terrorists against Pakistan, as the security and safety of the people of Pakistan is paramount

Pakistan also expects the international community to play a positive and constructive role in holding the Taliban regime to fulfill its responsibilities under the Doha Agreement following the recent suicide bombings in Pakistan, including an attack on an Imambargah in Islamabad, one incident each in Bajaur and Bannu, and another incident in Bannu during the holy month of Ramadan.
