Pakistani military contingent arrives in Saudi Arabia under bilateral defense agreement

ISLAMABAD: The Saudi Ministry of Defense says that a Pakistani military contingent has arrived at King Abdulaziz Air Base under the bilateral strategic defense agreement.

In a statement issued on X, the Saudi Ministry of Defense said that a military contingent of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has arrived at King Abdulaziz Air Base in the eastern region under the joint strategic defense agreement signed between the two brotherly countries.

According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, this Pakistani contingent consists of fighter and support aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force, which aims to strengthen military cooperation between the armies of the two countries, raise the level of operational readiness, and promote peace and stability at the regional and global levels.

It should be noted that a mutual defense agreement was signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in the capital Riyadh in September 2025. The agreement stated that any aggression against either country would be considered aggression against both countries.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif signed the “Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement” (SMDA) between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The agreement aims to promote defense cooperation between the two countries and strengthen joint defense and security against any aggression.

According to Bloomberg, the two countries have held several meetings regarding the agreement since Iran launched retaliatory attacks against its neighbors in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia.
