PESHAWAR: Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) has increased the bus fares on the express route by Rs 35, after which the new fare has increased from Rs 20 to Rs 55.

As per the details, “the decision to increase the fares is to improve the convenience of long-distance commuters,” Peshawar BRT operator Transpeshawar said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the bus operator’s spokesperson, the express routes are meant to facilitate long-distance passengers, but those traveling with two to three stops are also using them, reducing space.

The flat routes are ER-09, ER-10, ER-12, and ER-16. The new prices will be effective from Thursday, October 3.

Last month, Peshawar BRT resumed University Express service on ER-09 route with additional buses. Due to heavy rush of students, this service will be available for male passengers only from Monday to Friday.

Its route is from Nawab Market to Peshawar University via Gulbahar. The first bus starts at 7:40 am, the second at 7:55 am and the third at 8:10 am.

It has five stops: University of Peshawar, Abdra Road, Saddar Bazaar, Dabgari Gardens, Malik Saad Shaheed, and Gulbahar Chowk.
