Petrol Price hike challenged in Lahore High Court

LAHORE: The head of the Judicial Activism Panel, Azhar Siddique, filed a petition against the recent hike in prices of petroleum products.

He said that the continuous increase in the petroleum development levy is unconstitutional. The petition said that the increase in prices of petroleum products will further increase inflation.

The petition requested the court to declare the recent increase in the prices of petroleum products null and void.

It should be noted that the government has increased the price of petrol by Rs 14.92 per liter, while the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs 15 per liter.

The prices of petroleum products in Pakistan have reached a historic high, goods transporters have also announced an increase in fares.
