PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has ordered the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to administer the oath of office to the newly elected Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
The Peshawar High Court has reserved its verdict on a petition seeking the oath of office of the newly elected Chief Minister.
The court stated that the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should administer the oath of office to the newly elected Chief Minister at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
If the Governor does not take the oath, the Speaker should administer the oath of office to the newly elected Chief Minister on the same day.
It should be noted that the Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court presided over the hearing of the petition regarding the oath-taking of the newly elected Chief Minister, during which the Additional Attorney General told the court that the Governor has gone on an official visit and will return tomorrow at 2 pm.
On this, the Chief Justice inquired about the Governor’s remarks regarding the oath-taking. The Additional Attorney General said that the Governor has called Ali Amin Gandapur to approve the resignation.
The court asked whether you could tell that the Governor had agreed to take the oath or not. The Attorney General replied that let the Governor come, he will decide.
Until then, the old Chief Minister will run the office until the new Chief Minister comes.
On this, the court said that it will happen only when there is no election; here, the election has been held, and other parties have also submitted nomination papers for the post of Chief Minister.
