ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced that its direct Islamabad-Beijing-Islamabad flight service will resume starting from July 3, 2026.
The new flights will open up a much-needed air bridge between Pakistan and China, offering travelers a quicker and more convenient means to get between the two capitals.
The new direct flights come as there’s a rising demand for easy travel opportunities between the two countries among students, business managers, tourists, academicians, and families alike.
Travelers will now be able to drastically cut down the time spent traveling compared to connecting flights, with a flight between Islamabad and Beijing set to be about five hours and 35 minutes.
The launch of the Islamabad-Beijing route once again is the latest effort to establish air links between Pakistan and China, two countries with a profound strategic alliance in the realms of economy, politics, and education.
Flight schedules available on the websites show that the resumption of PIA’s direct Beijing flight is scheduled to commence from July 3rd and will add to the existing travel options on the same route.
Travelers can now enjoy cheaper fares, heavier baggage allowance, and direct connectivity without the lengthy stopovers often observed in travel plans to China.
The launch of direct flights is a major relief for both Pakistani students in China and their Chinese counterparts in Pakistan. Students and academic organizations had repeatedly pressed the government to establish more direct air links, as cross-border academic activity, in particular, had proliferated.
With new university sessions soon beginning, direct travel can ease the mobility of students, researchers, teachers, and academicians.
Industry leaders opine that this route is not only going to boost business travels related to the billions of dollars China-Pakistan Economic Corridor but also help facilitate tourists and visitors.
Given that China is one of Pakistan’s largest economic partners, this connectivity can facilitate trade discussions, business tours, investments, and further build people-to-people bonds between the two nations. Such accessibility between Islamabad and Beijing can also potentially increase tourism during the busy summer travel period.
