ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed services for the Gulf nations, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, following an announcement by US President Donald Trump of the ceasefire deal between Iran and Israel.
Over 50 Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and other city flights were delayed after flight operations were halted following the US missile attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, with Tehran retaliating against the US base in Qatar.
A day before, national airlines had suspended flight services to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Dubai, keeping in mind the developments in the Persian Gulf. It had stated that the move was in line with precautionary steps.
In a release issued on Monday, PIA announced that it has decided to cancel the flight schedule given the war-like situation prevailing in the Gulf states. As soon as the situation normalizes, PIA flights will be resumed.
The PIA spokesperson urged all the passengers who are scheduled to travel on these flights to get timely information about their flights through the PIA call center of the PIA.
The reservation department has meanwhile started cancelling bookings and transferring them to other flights.
The PIA spokesperson apologized to the travelers for the inconvenience caused due to the cancellation of flights and made it clear that this move had been taken given their safety.
