ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led a meeting to review preparations for Youm-e-Istehsal, which will be observed on August 5 to protest India’s illegal revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.

Pakistan has declared August 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal to show solidarity with the Kashmiris. A major event featuring Pakistani and Kashmiri leaders has been approved.

Federal ministers, advisors, and senior officials participated in the meeting, where the prime minister was updated on the event preparations.

PM Shehbaz is expected to visit Muzaffarabad on August 5 to demonstrate support for the Kashmiri people and strongly condemn India’s unilateral and illegal actions taken on August 5, 2019.

He will also make a significant policy statement. Pakistan, along with Kashmiris and the international community, condemned India’s move to end Jammu and Kashmir’s special status on August 5, 2019.

On Youm-e-Istehsal Day, a special walk and various events will be organized at the federal level, in provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.

A special broadcast will also highlight the efforts of the Kashmir freedom movement, the sacrifices of Kashmiris, and the realities of Indian oppression.
