PM Shehbaz reiterates commitment to complete structural reforms & strengthen economy

Riyadh: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated the government’s commitment to making Pakistan find its place in the community of nations through hard work.

The PM expressed his resolve while speaking at the Meeting for Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development at the World Economic Forum in Riyadh this evening.

The prime minister said we have to stand on our own two feet, which is difficult but not impossible.

Elaborating on the country’s economic crisis, the PM said our power sector is in shambles and our revenue sector is in tatters.

PM Shehbaz said we have introduced massive and deep-rooted structural reforms in different sectors to put the economy on the right trajectory.

He also thanked the leadership of Saudi Arabia, Britain, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the United States of America for their renewed support of the country’s economy.

Turning to the issue of climate change, the Prime Minister said our contribution to gas emissions is not even up to a fraction of a percent, but Pakistan is facing challenges as the most vulnerable country.

The PM said Pakistan incurred a loss of thirty billion dollars in terms of economic losses due to the worst floods in 2022.

Shehbaz Sharif thanked the friendly countries, including Saudi Arabia, Britain, Gulf courtiers, and the United States of America, for helping Pakistan in these testing times.

Turning to the prevailing situation in Palestine, the Prime Minister said the world will not be at peace unless there is permanent peace in Gaza.
