ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had a telephonic call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday to discuss bilateral and regional issues.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s House, the Prime Minister appreciated President Trump’s role in brokering the Iran-Israel ceasefire.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Marco Rubio for the key role of the US in the Pakistan-India ceasefire.
According to the statement, the Prime Minister and the US Secretary of State reiterated their commitment to further strengthen Pak-US relations. The two leaders agreed to continue close cooperation in the field of trade between Pakistan and the US.
The two leaders also discussed the situation in the Middle East. The Prime Minister said that Pakistan will continue to play a constructive role in establishing peace in the Middle East.
The US Secretary of State said that he wants to work with Pakistan to promote peace and stability in the region.
According to the report, the federal cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif at the Parliament House. The meeting reviewed the overall situation of the country.
In the meeting, the federal cabinet was taken into confidence on the decisions of the National Security Committee meeting.
In the meeting, the cabinet paid great tribute to the efforts of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar during the Iran-Israel conflict.
He revealed that Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir held a key meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Istanbul, which helped reinforce bilateral ties and contributed to the ceasefire.
