ISLAMABAD: According to a recent update, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is likely to inaugurate the Serena Interchange Project tomorrow, on Tuesday, a great milestone in the country’s infrastructure development.
Ahead of the inauguration, the Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, visited the site today and inspected the arrangments, asking the officials to beautify the surroundings with horticulture and install decorative lighting.
He also asked for speedy completion of the connecting roads to ensure smooth traffic flow. The project, which includes three underpasses, has been completed for Rs4.2 billion, with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) finalizing the horticulture and electrical work.
The inauguration of the Serena Interchange Project is a major achievement, considering the prime minister had set a 60-day deadline for its completion, which ended on January 5.
Despite exceeding that mark by a month, CDA officials believe the project will ease traffic congestion at this busy junction.
In the meanwhile, it is reported that one of the new underpasses has been proposed to be named after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the directives of the Prime Minister’s Office from the CDA.
It is a reflection of the improvement brought by the government towards the infrastructure improvement of the country along with its measures to bring a decrease in traffic congestion.
