ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted that Eid-ul-Adha is expected to be observed on June 17 (Monday).

In a press release, the Climate Data Processing Centre of PMD has indicated a strong possibility of moon sightings on Friday, June 7.

According to astronomical parameters, PMD said that there is a good chance of sighting the new moon of Zilhij 1445 AH on the evening of June 07 i.e. on the 29th of Ziquad 1445 AH.

According to the climate record, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy/fair in most parts of the country.

“The moon’s age in Karachi at sunset will be 26 hours and 8 minutes,” the PMD stated, adding that “the moon is expected to be visible for 72 minutes after sunset.”

However, amidst the anticipation, there is also a recognition of the spiritual significance of Eid-ul-Adha. It is a time for reflection, gratitude, and generosity, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son Isma’il (AS) as an act of obedience to Allah.

As the days pass and the moon approaches sighting, Pakistan stands on the edge of anticipation, waiting for the revelation that will usher in Eid al-Adha. In this uncertainty lies the beauty of faith and tradition, which reminds believers of the divine order that governs the universe and to which humanity must humbly submit.
