KHAIRPUR: An unidentified gunman attacked the security squad of an Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) judge on the Khairpur-Larkana road, resulting in the death of a police officer and injury to two other police personnel, according to media reports.
The firing incident happened when the judge was travelling to Larkana, the police officer is identified as Maqbool Sheikh, while the injured personnel were identified as Iqbal Milano and Sagheer Ahmed.
All of the police officials were from Larkana, the dead body and the injured were shifted to the Larkana district hospital for treatment and an initial post-mortem for the deceased.
SSP Khairpur Sardar Hassan Niazi arrived at the area, escorted by a large police force, to monitor the situation.
The perpetrators escaped, and an investigation is continuing to establish if the event was a targeted attack or part of a robbery attempt.
SSP Niazi reported that the ATC judge was unharmed, despite the squad being directly attacked.
