KARACHI: Police on Tuesday produced drug supplier and maker Anmol alias Pinky before a city court following her arrest in a major anti-narcotics operation in Karachi.

According to media reports, the accused was presented before the court without handcuffs and without the standard security arrangements usually followed during court appearances, prompting questions over police protocol.

Witnesses claimed the accused walked freely inside the court premises, spoke to her lawyer on a mobile phone, and interacted casually with people present during the hearing.

Police officials said the suspect was arrested during a raid conducted by Garden Police after receiving intelligence-based information from a federal agency.

Authorities alleged that cocaine and chemicals worth millions of rupees were recovered from the accused along with a mobile laboratory allegedly being used for the preparation of narcotics.

Police claimed the accused was involved in producing and supplying high-grade cocaine in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

According to investigators, one kilogram of semi-prepared cocaine, multiple “cocaine eggs”, chemicals including ketamine, ephedrine, and methamphetamine, as well as several bottles of handmade red wine, were seized during the raid.

Officials also alleged that a pistol and ammunition were recovered from the suspect’s possession.

Police sought a 14-day physical remand of the accused; however, the court did not approve the request and instead granted initial judicial custody.

Authorities said two separate cases had been registered against the accused, while further investigations were underway.
